The Eagles played in the first televised NFL game on October 22, 1939. They faced the Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field in New York. Though the Eagles lost 23-14, the broadcast marked a significant milestone in sports media.
3. **Steagles During WWII**:
During World War II, the Eagles temporarily merged with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1943 due to player shortages caused by the war. The combined team was nicknamed the "Steagles," and they played one season together before splitting back into two teams.
