Summary: Prayer in the church is a bit of a paradox - most hold high the value and importance of prayer but many also confess they don't pray enough. In bringing instruction to Timothy regarding the life, function and health of the church he was pastoring/ trouble-shooting, Paul begins first by emphasizing the call, role, purpose and foundation of prayer.
