Throughout Mesoamerican culture, they practiced human sacrifice and ritual cannibalism to placate the god of the underworld Mictlantecuhtli ( Mik-Lan-the-klulee). Mictlantecuhtli is usually portrayed in art as a skeleton or covered in bones with red spots representing blood. He wears a skull mask, bone ear plugs, a costume of owl feathers and even a necklace of eyeballs. He has curly black hair and powerful eyes which allow him to penetrate the gloom of the underworld. The owl was a symbol of a bad omen and death. Because of this Mictlantecuhtli is often seen with an owl. This is the bases for the creepy witch like creature that still haunts Mexico and southwest USA. Join us in this different tail of the owl that may just be a witch or a mediator between this land and the underworld. Don't forget to get a free sticker. We still have plenty of them and all you have to do is give us a 5 star review, screenshot it and send it to us at info@behillnetwork.com. Also, the deadline for the halloween episode is October 20 2022. so hurry up and get in on it if you would like your tale to be told. Remember you don't have to be native to send in your story but we will only be telling native tales. Lastly, please hit up our friends at indigenous_prints on IG for all your native swag needs.
