You were a monster I once faced.
A monster I promised myself to never become… But I forgave. Not because you asked me to,
but because I refused to carry the poison of your actions any longer.
I forgave so I could breathe again.
So I could love without flinching.
So I could break the cycle, not repeat it. My kids deserve better than what I did; I’d do anything to assure them of that.
You may never understand the weight of what you did; but I do.
And I carry it no more.
I didn’t forgive to set you free…
I forgave to set me free.
