As well as discussing Dr. Rintala's recent educational lecture...

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization: Application to Sport Performance and Rehabilitation

The nervous system establishes programs that control human posture, movement and gait. This ‘motor control’ is largely established during the first critical years of life. Therefore, the “Prague School” emphasizes neurodevelopmental aspects of motor control in order to assess and restore dysfunction of the locomotor system and associated syndromes.

Learning objectives:

1. Provide an understanding of DNS concepts and principles that are based on developmental kinesiology.

2. Demonstrate the role of the diaphragm for both respiration and stabilization functions.

3. Demonstrate the application of “active exercises” that are derived from our knowledge of developmental kinesiology.

4. Demonstrate the progressive nature of developmental movements

5. Understand optimal vs abnormal patterns and then solutions to address dysfunctional movements
