Description

The Legacy Project connects college students with older adults in their communities through storytelling and conversation, in order to promote intergenerational relationships.

What a wonderful idea that brings young and old together for meaningful connection!

Co-founder Arielle Galinsky is with me today to explain her inspiration for the idea, and how it works. The Legacy Project is now a registered charity, and since its founding in 2018 has expanded to 25 colleges across the United States.

It's more than just conversation too, there is a goal for each partnership to create a publication that can be passed down and shared, and The Legacy Project helps participants publish a book together.

Thus far, the conversations are all organized to take place in person, which does make the most sense, but although it has its own limitations, remote conversations are an option going forward, mostly so that more people can tap into this amazing resource.

You can visit www.legacyprojectinc.org to learn more about their activities, donate or get involved with this wonderful endeavour.

* Note: there are a number of other organizations and websites with a similar name, particularly this one: legacyproject.org, based in Toronto, Canada.

In this episode, I chatted with Arielle Galinsky's "The Legacy Project," whose website is legacyprojectinc.org. Easy to get them confused!

But you'll know you're on her group's site if you see a big photo of intergenerational folks and the words, "Everyone has a story that is worth preserving."
