Through John 17—Jesus' longest recorded prayer—we discover seven specific requests: protection, deliverance from evil, His joy, sanctification in truth, unity, future believers, and seeing His glory. Jesus didn't pray for comfort or the removal of hardship, but for faith to persevere, character to be formed, and lives to be shaped by eternity and God's redemptive purpose. This teaching challenges us to move beyond vague prayers and intercede specifically and redemptively for others—not just asking God to do something, but joining Him in what He's already doing.
