Richmond Griner of Wag Works chats with Sam Ewashko, founder of Adventure Hounds, currently based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Sam’s lifelong love for animals started early, volunteering at vet hospitals and running Sam’s Sitting Service as a kid, long before she became a professional trainer.
Today, she leads Adventure Hounds and the Healing Hounds program, where her work goes beyond traditional obedience. Through her mentorship program, Sam also helps other trainers expand their knowledge and skill sets, emphasizing that every dog—and every trainer—requires a different approach. Her focus on nervous system regulation for both dogs and their humans helps build trust, confidence, and balance on both ends of the leash.
In this episode, Sam shares her journey from early passion to professional mentorship, the importance of continuing education in dog training, and why understanding the human side of training is just as important as the canine side. It’s an honest, insightful look into the art and science of connection between people and their dogs.
