In December 2011, 17-year-old Blake Chappell disappeared in Newnan, Georgia, after attending his homecoming dance. Months later, his body was found near a creek, with an autopsy confirming he died from a gunshot wound to the head. For over a decade, the case remained unsolved, haunting his family and community as “The Homecoming Killer” mystery.
Update:
In September 2025, authorities finally made a breakthrough. Scotty Elliot Smith was arrested and reportedly confessed to Blake’s murder. Investigators executed multiple search warrants and turned over new evidence to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. After nearly 14 years, justice may finally be within reach.
