After Elizabeth greets Mary with the words we pray in the Hail Mary, Mary responds with her Magnificat—a hymn of praise that magnifies the greatness of God and His promise of mercy.
Mary's Magnificat echoes the Beatitudes, turning worldly expectations upside down: the proud are scattered, the mighty cast down, the lowly lifted up. Just as Jesus was tempted in the desert, we, too, face temptations—desires that, when disordered, lead us away from God. But Mary reminds us: we do not fight this battle alone. God remains faithful to His promises.
