In this episode Miguel Ortiz interviews his mother Monica who moved from mexico to california over 30 years ago.
Monica explains what life was like back in Mexico and how there wasn't much good affordable education nearby and how there weren't very many opportunities to gain wealth and be successful. Because of this situation she decided to illegally immigrate into the United States for a better life and because she already had previous family members that immigrated into the United states it was a no brainer for her.
The conversation explores the complexities of the immigrant experience, reflecting on the bravery, struggles, and triumphs of those who leave home and immigrate to start a new life.
