The hosts give examples of often oversimplified or misused concepts including glorified medications in media resulting increased prescribing trends, gaslighting, trauma vs. difficult situations, narcissistic traits versus diagnosis, attachment styles, golden retriever significant others, and the accuracy of quick diagnostic testing via social media platforms. They stressthat the use of “pop psychology” may be useful as an introduction to exploration of mental health concepts with help from a trained mental health provider.
