The Book of Malachi is the final prophetic voice of the Old Testament and serves as a bridge between the Old and New Testaments. Written around 100 years after the return from exile, Malachi confronts a spiritually apathetic people who had grown disillusioned and lax in their worship. Though the temple had been rebuilt, the hearts of the people and priests had grown cold, marked by ritual without reverence, corrupt leadership, and broken relationships.
