The Book of Philemon is written to a man named Philemon, a Christian leader in Colossae, this personal letter addresses the return of Onesimus, a runaway slave who had since become a believer and close companion of Paul. Rather than command Philemon to forgive Onesimus, Paul appeals to him on the basis of love, grace, and Christian brotherhood.
