This is episode 52 of The Betar Project with special guest Kyle Rettig.
In high school Kyle started to suffer from Anxiety & depression which accumulated over time. Coming out of school he applied for the army and was accepted into Kapooka Army Recruit Training Centre, he lasted a week before he realised it wasn't for him and that he couldn't handle it at such a young age. On returning he picked up a spray painters gig then moved into a account managers role where he was earning a lot more money. What does a young kid do with a lot of money, yes usually makes some poor choices, he was partying and experimenting with cocaine which only got worse over time. This lifestyle led him down a dark path which ultimately resulted in Kyle dealing drugs, addicted to drugs, in debt from drugs. He knew he needed help but didn't seek it until it all broke down to the point where one night his father had to cuddle him and make sure everything was going to be okay. His dad opened up about everything he has gone through which was the first time they have both spoken about their feelings. From that night Kyle has been working to improve his quality of life through now boxing and spreading awareness around mental health & drug addiction.
Running in the Right Direction - On January 16th Kyle will be running around Centennial Parklands raising money for the Black Dog Institute.
