Description

In this episode, I’m joined by my bestie Javier — fellow immigrant kid, eldest child, and former Texas gal turned California queen. We dive into what it’s like being a parent before ever having kids — raising our siblings, parenting our parents, and still being expected to have all the answers… even now.

Javier opens up about where he is in the adoption process with his husband and how he had to come out three separate times before his family finally got the memo. We talk about how California changed us — softened us, healed us, and made us want to level up (while spending $17 on smoothies, unapologetically).

Also, let’s be clear: we may be ex–Texas gals, but we’ll take high taxes and 2-hour traffic on the 405 over $2 houses and a college bumper sticker any day.

We wrap things up with a Beyoncé trivia round that Javier absolutely tanks — and honestly? That might’ve been the most offensive part of the episode.

This one’s for the eldest daughters, the immigrant kids, and the emotional support humans of the family. Come for the stories, stay for the laughs and light dragging. 💅🏾🇲🇽🇬🇭🌈
