Additional Notes: Remember that site providers also have built-in mailing list and marketing e-mail capabilities on the backend but there are also sometimes fees involved for the frequency usually with a small free cap otherwise visitors can just subscribe to your “blog”or publication section too if you add a “Sign Up” section on your website—sometimes others just direct visitors to their Substack mailing list with a hyperlinked button vs the built-in site one. Substack has an online desktop platform and mobile app version where you can comment, there are also chat inbox capabilities and you engage in discussion with subscribers, reply and like comments on posts etc. You have the option to publish posts without a direct subscriber email notification and app delivery alert and can hide various sections and categories from the main mobile section view of your publication so that it just appears on the web though would still be discoverable on the mobile app just without an email to subscribers. If someone doesn’t want to receive emails in their inbox but wants to keep in the loop on your publication activity etc.—they can use the “Follow” in-app button instead. You can disable chat and cross posting etc. also make your publication private—a lot of options can be switched off that you may not wish to use.
