Description

My guest today is the multi-talented Kimberly Davis Basso, who’s a theater director, author, mother, and stroke survivor. Kimberly spent nearly twenty five years as a stage director, playwright and producer. After suffering a stroke, she switched her attention to writing, and her first book, I'm a Little Brain Dead, is a chronicle of her medical adventures after having a stroke. I found Kimberley to be fun, positive, and insightful and I really enjoyed our conversation.

In our conversation, we discussed theater art, directing, fulfillment in the process, getting to sit back, books, stories, the effects of stories, the intrinsic value of entertainment, fiction vs nonfiction, emotional journeys, child play, work, creative people and their work, energy for sharing stories, strokes, the ability of brains to break, the BEFAST acronym for strokes, humor and horror, the human monster, aliens, bad guys, people’s stories making sense to them, figuring out what you really want to do, and the hierarchy of stories.
