ALIEN FRANCHISE MARATHON
One this about Prometheus is that it's very... Alien to the franchise that is 'Alien'.
Following a steep decline into campiness from the last few entries in the the 'Alien' canon, we are welcomed back to the franchise with a VERY serious tone. Explicit philosophy? Grand ideas about human existence? THIS is what you're getting in Prometheus - and Kane and Rhys are here for it.
The slasher movie motifs are gone, and hard sci-fi is embraced in this prequel - Ridley Scott coming back and facilitating this new direction. The Xenos are gone, but the Engineers are here; and a lot is going to be revealed about other species, the Aliens, and what it is to be human.
