In this episode, Naeemah discusses meal prep with professional organizer and owner of Neat Nerd Solutions, Carolyn Rogers. She talks about her tried and true methods of successful meal preparation.
Carolyn hasn't always embraced being neat and organized but has always been a nerd. She has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and has been a software engineer for over a decade. She likes brain games and puzzles. She's been organizing on some level for over 30 years. That's right, she was the 12-year-old who cleaned her brother's room for pay. But even she went through a messy period. Her room always looked like her closet exploded. Her desk looked like she shared it with a bunch of blind monkeys. But one day it struck her that she really didn’t like looking for stuff. She found that she was less frustrated and had more time to do the things that she liked when she didn’t have to clean up or search for papers and other things. So slowly but surely, she became more and more neat. Now even her messes have some kind of order. And then it began to spread. She ran out of things to neaten in her own space so she began to neaten her family and friends. She organized her co-workers. Carolyn thinks organizing is a lot like solving a puzzle and she actually finds it to be relaxing. She is very drawn to boxes and containers and she takes advantage of every opportunity to wander around places like the Container Store and IKEA. "I guess you can say I am a nerd who is fast becoming a geek about organizing."
