Description

In this emotional episode of Widowed AF, host Rosie Gill Moss speaks with Emma Gray about her experience with grief and loss. Emma's husband Simon passed away from oesophageal cancer in 2016, leaving behind their two young daughters. Emma shares her story of meeting Simon, his time in the military, and his diagnosis. Throughout their conversation, Emma emphasizes the importance of understanding and talking about death with children, and how to navigate the challenging administrative tasks that come with losing a loved one.

Rosie and Emma also discuss the impact of grief on neurodivergent individuals, and how Emma's own grief exposed her neurodivergence while her daughter's grief hid hers. Emma is now a grief and trauma counsellor, and she shares her thoughts on the importance of preparing for death and the value of investing in therapy as a means of coping with grief and trauma.

Despite the heaviness of the subject matter, Emma and Rosie's conversation is filled with warmth, humour, and a deep understanding of the complexities of grief. Listeners will come away with a renewed appreciation for the preciousness of life and the importance of taking care of ourselves and our loved ones while we still can.
