Day 25: Realizing Revival

Scripture:

Hosea 6:3 (ESV)

“Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord; his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.”

Reflection:

There are moments in the life of faith where the soul feels dry, weary, or distant. Seasons when the sky feels shut, and spiritual fruit seems scarce. But God has not abandoned His people. He promises revival—not as a flash of emotion, but as the faithful rain that comes in season.

Hosea calls us to press on to know the Lord, even when we don't feel Him. Revival begins not with spectacle but with seeking—a hunger to return to the heart of God. And what follows? Rain. Softening, nourishing, life-giving rain.

In biblical imagery, “the latter rain” (see also Joel 2:23) refers to the rains that come in springtime, preparing the harvest. It's a symbol of renewaloutpouring, and harvest—both naturally and spiritually. Just as the earth depends on these rains, so too the Church—and each of us—depends on the Spirit of God to renew, awaken, and revive.

Jesus promised rivers of living water to those who believe in Him (John 7:38). Revival is not manufactured; it is received. It flows from the presence of the risen Christ and the power of His Spirit. When we repent, return, and seek His face, the latter rain will come—not just upon us, but through us, bringing life to others.

Prayer:

Lord, I long for Your rain—Your Spirit poured out to soften what’s hard, revive what’s dry, and awaken what’s sleeping. Let me press on to know You more. May revival begin in me, and spread through me. Refresh Your people, Lord, and bring forth a harvest for Your glory. Amen.

Reflection Questions:

  1. In what areas of your life or heart do you need the “latter rain” of God’s presence?

  2. What does it look like for you to “press on to know the Lord” this week?

  3. How might God use your personal revival to impact your family, church, or community?
