Well, I couldn’t stay away from podcasting until 2022 after all – the temptation to share a live recording of our literary event Mancaster Rocks was just too great. Why? Because this was the first opportunity in a couple of years to read on stage with my writing allies and for a supportive audience to mainline some offline literary performances supplemented with audio-visual invention.
The readers you will hear in Episode 13 of First Impressions are Penguin-published writer Maria Roberts, short story specialist and creative writing teacher Zoe Lambert, prize-winning poet Eoghan Walls, who teaches with Zoe, and me; the artists who shared their visions on the night are Garth Simmons and Ana Rebolledo. Mancaster Rocks took place at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation on the 20th October 2021.
My thanks to the organisers there and to the exceptional writers and artists you are about to join for making it happen. It was so great to share our better-known work alongside more recent output, in my case an extract from the BBC National Short Story Award-longlisted tale ‘Justice’.
