When I started my career in psychiatry I began as the Chief Psychiatrist for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, managing facilities in the SE region of the US. My home location was FDC in downtown Miami. Being available to my brothers and sisters, most of whom are unjustly doing time, was a gratifying experience for the nearly ten years I was with the BOP.
I moderated a mental health mindfulness panel featuring & on behalf of the Udonis Haslem Foundation founded by Udonis Haslem, Wuf Shanti founded by adam Avin & Judge Leifman, the gentleman who, like Udonis, has a passion for criminal Justice reform and has created a system in FL to divert detainees to mental health facilities and hospitals instead of jails and prisons.
