Description

This week we chat to the amazing Maddy, a NICU Nurse working in one of Sydney's major hospitals.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is where bub will go if they are born prematurely or have health challenges post birth. The stay can range from a few hours to a few months depending on what your baby needs.

Luckily there are amazing nurses such as Maddy, who will support you and guide you through what can be a daunting and scary time.

We hope this episode can shed some light on a topic that we think needs more attention, and also give parents a little piece of mind and comfort knowing you are never alone if your baby has a stay in NICU.

We chat to Maddy about what could lead a bub to stay in NICU, what kind of treatments happen there, the level of parent interaction, how to establish breastfeeding in NICU, when a baby can be discharged and so much more!

This podcast is for parents, soon to be parents, wanting to be parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, cats, dogs and anyone else who cares to listen.

We don't know what we're doing but let's work it out together - come and join our village!
