On today’s episode, I’m sitting down with bestselling author of Filter This, Unfiltered and most recently, Corpsing: My Body and Other Horror Shows. Growing up in Dublin, pursuing writing was never in the plans and ambitions of this week’s guest. Always creative, however, she went down an artistic path and chose to delve deeper into the world of sculpture. During her early twenties, following a bad experience with drugs, she suffered a nervous breakdown that quickly derailed everything and set her on an entirely new trajectory. From cheffing and catering with her husband to stumbling upon the opportunity to write a food column in one of Ireland’s national newspapers, things started to look up for the budding novelist and once she got a taste for creating narratives, she couldn’t get enough. Currently working on the second draft of her fifth book, she shares with me the struggles of getting published, how she overcomes self doubt and everything in between. Here’s what it’s like to be Sophie White.
