Come, Holy Spirit. Help me to recognize the voice of Jesus. Like he talks about in John 10. Help me with that simple, fundamental, ability.
There are many voices in the world. Many of them eloquent and persuasive and passionate. Many of them that have the words from Holy Scripture in their mouths. Help me to. be able to recognize. which ones. in which ones, Jesus is speaking. in which ones the good shepherd is speaking.
Help me to receive the words of Jesus with delight. Thanksgiving. Attention, humility, help me to receive them wholeheartedly and act on them.
The voice of another, help me to still listen with respect. as I discern, as I seek help from you to discern. But if you show me that it is not the voice of Jesus, help me to let go of what it's saying. Let go of any authority that it's claiming.
Help me to respond and rest in the tender voice of the good shepherd. Amen.
