They didn’t need guns. They had code.
No break-ins. No bombs. No boots on the ground.
Just keyboards — and chaos.
In this episode of Fugitive Files, we uncover one of the most dangerous digital threats ever linked to a government. Six men — five Russian military intelligence officers and one civilian — stand accused of launching cyberattacks that targeted critical infrastructure in Ukraine and across Western allied nations.
According to the FBI, these men acted on behalf of GRU Unit 29155, a secretive wing of Russian military intelligence. They allegedly deployed the “WhisperGate” malware and infiltrated everything from government systems to civilian networks — leaving behind a trail of destruction and digital sabotage.
They face charges of:
Conspiracy to commit computer intrusion and damage
Conspiracy to commit wire fraud
All six are currently wanted by the FBI and are believed to be operating under the protection of the Russian government.
This is Fugitive Files. Let’s get into it.
