Michael Oliver is the founder of Momentum Structural Analysis (MSA), a technical research firm established in 1992, specializing in momentum-based analysis of stocks, commodities, debt, and forex markets. Unlike conventional price-focused technical analysis, MSA emphasizes long-term momentum trends to identify significant market shifts, avoiding short-term trading. Oliver’s career began in 1975 at E.F. Hutton’s International Commodity Division, where he developed his unique methodology, notably predicting the 1987 market crash. After moving to full-time research, he has served institutional clients like banks and hedge funds, and retail investors since 2016.
