In this episode Kait sits down with two young comics in Austin, Roman Schmitt and Nate Lorette. They get honest about what it’s actually like coming up in the comedy scene right now. The conversation drifts into gender roles, dating, and the fine line between being a contrarian and just being a dick. Roman opens up about his first time doing Banana Phone and the unexpectedly heavy experience of looking eerily similar to a comic who had recently passed away—something he had no idea about at the time. Nate shares his thoughts on hosting, and decides to wear the cherry pillows for a bit. We also break down the cultural whiplash of living in Austin versus growing up in Wisconsin and Oklahoma, and Maine. Kait draws a parallel between size and people who do things like the Epstein files. And we somehow end up acting and reading a script the producer whipped up at the very end.
