Listen

Description

Note: This episode is best watched on YouTube - but if you're travelling or unable to watch, just listen - it's still great.

You’re working from home because of this whole Coronavirus situation. And while it’s not the first time you’ve had to do Zoom calls for work, you know that your video conferencing game isn’t as strong as it could be, not by a long shot.

Not to mention your face always seems to look red like you’ve just done too many home workout burpees.

Add to that, you don’t know whether you should look at the camera lens directly or at the person on screen, your eyes shiftily dart between the two so you end up coming across all guilty like a kid with chocolate all over your face, saying "I don’t know who ate my little sister’s last Easter egg", but you’re fooling no one.

And your virtual background…. let’s not even go there.

Enough is enough, you decide to level up your Zoom game and you know exactly who to turn to.

That’s right Spen and Nick. Those two handsome sons of a gun.

And you’d be right to.

They’ve just come fresh out of Zoom live in front of 170+ people and they have all the advice you need.

So you pluck up the courage to speak to them and they share with you some priceless wisdom that opens you up to a whole new world of video conferencing possibility.

It's simple, hearty, age-old advice but it changes everything.

This is what they say:

1. 🏡 Prepare your surroundings - a plant, some books and tidy space go a long way.

2. 💨 Breath - it’s a great way to help you stay calm and overcome the nerves.

3. 🔍 Focus on your audience - it’s about them not you. Just try to bring them value.

4. 💬 Interact with your audience - encourage people to engage using the chat box.

5. 🥇 People want you to win - don’t be afraid to be your authentic yourself.

6. 🧙🏻‍♂️ Magic happens in the Q&A - make sure you leave time at the end for questions.

7. 🏔 Set a challenge - get people to agree to apply something they learnt after the session.

8. 🎥 Record it - document it and share it with your participants and maybe post on socials.

9. ⏸ Don’t be afraid to pause - it gives you and the audience time to think and reflect.

You apply what they say the next day and everyone on your call immediately starts complimenting you.  You’re so happy you go back to Spen and Nick’s YouTube channel and subscribe. (You even click the little bell icon AND give the video a like.)
