Chapter 30 Summary
The morning after his dinner with Jennifer, Tony wakes early at the Hyatt, orders breakfast, and repeatedly tries to reach Steven, whose ongoing silence raises alarm bells. Unable to contact him, Tony calls Steven’s parents but hangs up before leaving a message, not wanting to cause worry.
To distract himself, he calls Jennifer, and their lighthearted chat lifts his mood. Jennifer thanks him for the previous evening, and they joke about her work struggles, and Tony offers to fly her back to Chicago himself. Though hesitant at first, Jennifer agrees after he insists it’s no trouble, planning to meet him in the lobby at noon for lunch before their flight. Tony’s lingering unease about Steven remains, and after the call with Jennifer, he decides to try reaching Steven’s parents again.
