Chapter 54 Summary
Bravo spends the morning putting the next steps of his plan into motion. He orders thirty unlined steel drums under the name Patrick Kelly, arranging to pay cash upon delivery later that afternoon. He also secures the same cab driver from the previous day to help him run several errands before returning to the warehouse. After collecting his tools from the hotel safe, he heads out, knowing he has only a few hours to complete everything before the shipment arrives.
At the hospital, Agents Taylor and Jackson attempt to question Steven despite clear instructions to leave him undisturbed. Jackson tries to ease into the conversation, but Taylor pushes aggressively, showing Steven the threatening message found in his apartment. The sight of it sends Steven into a panic spiral, triggering the same fear and confusion that had nearly broken him before. Dr. Laura rushes in as Steven collapses, overwhelmed, and immediately orders the agents out. Even as Taylor protests, security escorts them away, leaving Dr. Laura to regroup and assess the damage to Steven’s fragile recovery.
