Welcome to Daily Growth Point, I’m Pastor John Bingham.
One of the key virtues of Christ was meekness. Peter wrote of Jesus that, “when He was reviled, he reviled not again.” Many suppose that this kind of response demonstrates a weakness. Yet, no one could honestly say that Jesus was weak. There are not many men who could endure the torture that Christ suffered at the hands of evil men and then pray for their forgiveness. Rather, Christ’s meekness was evidence of His strength under control.
Christ is the eternal, omniscient God, who can do all things! It would have been nothing for Christ to call down fire to consume those evil men that nailed Him on the cross.
Yet, instead of deviating from the plan of God for man’s redemption and reconciliation, Christ endured the cross and despised the shame. This was not weakness, but meekness on display.
