Chapter 11 Summary: “Complications”
During a biology class film, Edward sits close to Bella, and she feels the electric pull between them. After school, as they pass Rosalie’s flashy car, Edward takes Bella home. She wants to watch him hunt, but he refuses—afraid he might lose control and hurt her.
That night, Bella dreams of Edward and wakes repeatedly. In the morning, Edward drives her to school and spends the day asking personal questions—her favorite color, music, gemstone (topaz), and more. It feels like a deep dive into her life.
After school, they talk for hours in his car during a rainstorm. She describes what she misses about Phoenix. When she asks the time, Edward says it’s twilight—safe for vampires, but also sad.
As Bella heads inside, another car arrives. Edward tenses and drives away. It’s Jacob and his father, Billy Black, who looks at Bella with clear concern—likely about Edward.
