In this short video, Malissa shares her experience taking SSRIs, SNRIs, and benzodiazepines, and the profoundly tragic impact these drugs have had on her life. Dealing with Protractive Withdrawal Syndrome (PWS), Malissa discusses the challenges of finding medical validation, the loss of her physical abilities, and the mental and emotional toll of living with this damage.
Protractive Withdrawal Syndrome (PWS) is a severe and long-lasting condition that can occur after stopping selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Similar to Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction (PSSD), PWS is the current term for a rare syndrome characterized by the devastating physical neurological effects people can experience after cessation of SSRIs.
PWS has a disastrous impact on patients, their families, and their friends. It often leads to disability, isolation, and even suicide. Every person is valuable, and everyone deserves to make a fully informed choice about their health.
More research into Post Withdrawal Syndrome (PWS) and Post-SSRI Sexual Dysfunction is desperately needed. Learn more about and support the newest scientific initiative here: https://www.pssdnetwork.org/
