Episode 23 | Tyson Clizer – Marine, Railroader, and Recovery

Tyson Clizer’s story is one of grit, struggle, and redemption. A U.S. Marine veteran and long-time railroader, Tyson opens up about his battle with addiction and how hitting rock bottom forced him to make the hardest call of his life. With the help of the railroad, he was sent to treatment in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he began the long process of rebuilding his life.

From losing custody of his kids, to the fear of turning himself in, to months of inpatient and outpatient programs supported by both the railroad and the VA, Tyson shares how the industry—and his own willingness to finally surrender—saved his life. This is a raw conversation about pain, resilience, and what it takes to truly start over.
