This week on Paranormally Speaking with Neal Parks: BREAKING: Interstellar Object 3I/ATLAS Sparks Debate Comet, Curiosity, or Cosmic Surveillance? 🛸✨

In a stunning twist of celestial intrigue, scientists have detected a mysterious object from deep space: 3I/ATLAS, the third confirmed interstellar visitor to enter our solar system. First observed on July 1, 2025, this strange body is speeding through space at over 130,000 mph (≈209,000 km/h) and is expected to make a close pass to Earth in November 2025. As it approaches, astronomers are racing to uncover its true nature and speculation is reaching cosmic heights.

Unlike typical solar system objects, 3I/ATLAS has a highly eccentric, retrograde orbit a strange and unpredictable trajectory. Its movement, along with early signs of a faint tail and gaseous coma, makes it resemble a comet. But the object is also large possibly up to 15 meters in diameter raising comparisons to the controversial interstellar visitor ʻOumuamua in 2017. One theory gaining buzz, proposed by Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb, suggests 3I/ATLAS might be artificial possibly an alien reconnaissance probe. However, this hypothesis, based on preliminary modeling, remains unproven and controversial within the scientific community.

Despite the headlines, most experts still lean toward a natural explanation, likely a comet from another star system. 3I/ATLAS is scheduled to reach perihelion (closest point to the Sun) on October 29, 2025, temporarily vanishing from our telescopes. It will reappear in mid-December, making its closest approach to Earth at a safe distance of 1.8 AU (about 270 million km). Until then, all eyes and instruments will be locked on this rare visitor, hoping to catch a glimpse into the distant corners of our galaxy.
