Welcome to Episode Eight of the Off Duty Actors Podcast!

I recommend this podcast for any actor that needs a calming presence to help you figure out your "why?" and inspire you to “fail courageously”.

Because that’s what this chat is. A calming in-depth discussion with the wonderful actor Alfie Gledhill. You might know Alfie from his time as a presenter on ABC’s Studio 3, from one of his many theatre credits with Sydney Theatre Company, Bell Shakespeare etc. or musical productions, like Moulin Rouge or Godspell, or films such as The Gods Of Wheat Street, Circle Of Lies or most recently Birdeater. I reconnected with Alfie at the 2024 AACTA’s where he had driven up with the cast and crew of the AACTA Indie Feature Film Award Winner Birdeater (now on Netflix) which he co-starred in.

We chat about the process of being apart of Birdeater among other industry nuggets of gold: Like finding joy outside the industry, figuring out “why do you really want to be an actor? What is your driving force?” And how the answer could become your superpower. We chat about Shakespeare, heritage and diversity box ticking and balancing work, life, discipline and joy. We get a small glimpse into the next short Alfie is lead actor in, South Point, which I’ve put the crowd funding link for this short film below.

Let’s support original, up and coming Australian films. So please enjoy this relaxed, soulful chat with Alfie Gledhill.
