There is a unique route to be mapped for this audio series. In the weeks before releasing this first episode of this series, I was preparing for a 6 week sabbatical visiting friends around the United States. I will be spending time in at least 7 different states and reconnecting with friends from my own personal history, many who I haven’t seen in several years. Along the way I’ll be sitting down with some of them to document their relationship to place. I’m also returning to all three locations I shared about in the first episode: Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Detroit, and Washington state. I’ll be popping in throughout the series to share themes and thoughts around this project that have stood out to me during my travels. By air, by train, by bus and car, I’ll be reflecting observations how, more often than we realize, we are all in the carpool lane of personal discovery.
