The district is actively focused on the Draft School Consolidation Plan, with Q&A sessions underway. The draft plan will be presented to the Board of Trustees on Nov. 6. Additional Q&A Sessions are scheduled for Oct. 27, and Nov. 8.
Here’s what happening next week at Austin ISD:
- The Austin ISD Technology team is hosting a Student Poster/Video Contest for Cybersecurity Awareness Month. Students or staff may submit and create a poster paper, a digital poster via Canva, or a short video (two minutes or less) showing how they stay safe online. The theme is how to “Be Internet Awesome.” Submissions are due Nov. 7.
- Monday, Oct. 20, is designated as a Parent Conference Day for elementary and secondary schools and a Staff Development Day. Students are also off of school this day. Students will return on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
- On Monday, Oct. 20, officials are hosting a community meeting from 6-7 p.m. at the Austin Public Library’s Yarborough Branch concerning the potential sale of the old Rosedale School.
- Staff and students are encouraged to wear orange on Wednesday, Oct. 22, for Unity Day, the signature event for National Bullying Prevention Month, showing support for bullying prevention and for students who have been bullied.
- Don't miss the 6th Annual Trunk or Treat event hosted by the Austin ISD Police Department. The event is happening from 5-8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Nelson Athletic Complex, featuring free food, drinks, music, and encouraging kids to wear their favorite costumes.
