Aloha! This week, The HOP travels across the Pacific to the great state of Hawaii. Maui Brewing Company was founded in 2005 and has since grown to become the largest brewery in the state. Despite massive success that now includes four taprooms across two islands and expansive distribution to much of the mainland United States, Maui Brewing remains independently owned and committed to its core values, brewing locally and serving as “conscientious stewards of the ‘aina.’” The company went completely “off the grid” in 2019, having successfully installed an impressive solar array allowing them to draw 100% of their power from renewable, self-sustaining sources at their primary brewery in Kihei, Maui. Stephen & Gabe don their leis and flip-flops to spend a day in the life of an islander, sampling several of MBC’s year-round offerings.
