"5 Foundations" is our 'gospel response' course. It is for anyone who is responding to the Gospel in some way (whether unsaved but seeking, or recently having expressed faith in Christ).
The Apostle Paul described his initial ministry to the Corinthians with these word:
"According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. " (1 Cor 3:10)
It is very important to lay the right foundations in the lives of people responding to the Gospel. The right foundations can lead to years, indeed multi-generations, of established maturity in Christ, and as evangelicals perhaps we might be willing to admit that in far too many churches (and evangelism ministries) there has been inadequate provision made for the early discipleship of people responding to the gospel in our meetings.
For this reason I have long wished for a video-based course which we could do with people responding to the Gospel that we knew was laying the right foundations in their Christian life. Of course the exciting thing is that the Bible tells us what those foundations are. The Holy Spirit hasn’t left us without directions here. I believe there are 5 of these foundations and although we see them all over the New Testament, perhaps they are laid out most clearly in Heb 6:1-3. There we read that when people are responding to the Gospel we are to teach them:
And that’s exactly what our “5 Foundations” course does. It has been specifically designed to help people who respond to the gospel message, whether through some kind of “altar call” in your church, or any other way they present themselves. The course gives you as a church a tool to help these people take their first few steps toward a new life in Jesus.
