Description

In order for us to regularly practice the Sabbath, there is likely to be some work we need to get done ahead of time so that we can really enjoy a day of Sabbath rest.

Enjoying a day of rest will require a little bit of work.

Exodus 20:8-11 New Living Translation - 8 “Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 You have six days each week for your ordinary work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your livestock, and any foreigners living among you. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.

Hebrews 4:9-10 New International Version - 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.

Application: Looking ahead at your calendar, pick a day in the next week that you could practice preparing for and trying out a Sabbath.

In order to enjoy a day of rest each week, what do you need to get done ahead of time i.e. laundry, meal preparation, honey-do list, school work etc? Make a list and commit to getting it done so you can rest.
