“I didn’t consider myself to be an entrepreneur...” -Kirbi Smith

When Kirbi said this I immediately saw the faces of newbie brand builders I’d recently spoken with who also didn’t see themselves as such. Who had explained to me how weird it felt to own that they were actually running a real business.

Maybe you’re in that same boat. This has been an idea or project or hobby for so long that it feels weird for you to accept that transition. Keep reading.

I asked Kirbi what caused her to make that mental shift, given that she is now Chief Operations Officer of Active Faith Sports, a brand in over 92 countries! She said it was realizing that it didn’t have to look one particular way. That her unique story of being an athlete turned school teacher didn’t preclude her from being able to run a successful business. She could do it her own way.

I could not love that more.

And I’d even take it one step further to say, your differences HELP you as you build your brand. Because instead of meshing in with all the noise in the market, you bring your unique set of experiences and secret sauce to  the table, which is more relatable and creative.

My girl Kirbi drops SO MANY gems in this episode! I love our conversation and all of the practical tips you’ll be able to pull from it -- especially if you’re looking to launch an apparel brand! Take a listen and then shoot me a DM to let me know what you think!
