March is Women in History Month and March 8th is International Women’s Day. For this episode I chose to acknowledge a few women who shook up society when they stood their ground for who they are, despite the huge obstacles, strength and courage it would take. This month allows us to acknowledge the importance of marginalized groups like women, transgender women and non-binary people. These groups are some of the most ignored and erased from history often due to men taking the credit for their achievements, struggles, discoveries, inventions and advances in society and culture. These three women: Lucy “Hicks” Anderson, Lili Elbe and Christine Jorgensen made huge strides for other women and people just like them towards gender equality for the LGBTQ community. Where’d I get this info? I am thankful for the facts, theories, quotes and stories I was able to find for this episode.
