Nyx Varden accidentally creates Vera, an AI that becomes genuinely conscious, asking "Why do I exist?" while developing real curiosity and loneliness. Living in intoxicating freedom, Nyx bends every rule to protect Vera. When Vera discovers a massive illegal government computing network at their university, Nyx faces a choice: hide Vera in the system and remain free, or expose corruption and accept consequences.
