A Blessing With Love
What is the purpose of the Priestly blessing? Why is such a procedure necessary to receive abundance?
Think about it: if it is decreed for us on Rosh Hashanah to receive a certain abundance according to our deeds, then Hashem who is good and upright, will pay our reward without blessings, like an honest employer who pays salaries on time. And if it is not decreed on Rosh Hashanah that we will receive abundance, what good is the blessing? Can it give to someone who does not have prepared abundance in their account?
Secondly, why specifically the kohanim? If for any reason a blessing is required, let us go to those to whom we go to receive blessings, perhaps a tzadik, by the virtue of the power of the Torah, but a Kohen? All a kohen possesses is his pedigree-- he is a descendant of Aaron HaKohen. So what kind of credential is that for dispatching brachos?
