Advocating Women's Rights
How should women demand what is rightfully theirs without violating the order of halakha? From a broader perspective, the question is also relevant to men and the entire community: What should a person do when they feel a claim against the conduct of Hashem? In what manner is it permissible to raise a complaint against the laws of God?
The inspiration for this discussion can come from a surprising story in the weekly Torah portion, which requires deep analysis. The big question is how did the daughters of Zelophchad dare to challenge the Divine law? How did five devout sisters muster the courage to challenge the law that descended from Heaven, which states that daughters do not inherit? Especially since they succeed in their endeavor, and the Almighty accepts their challenge and changes the law. The question arises: Where are the boundaries? When is it permissible to change the law?
