Work is accomplished by working through people so taking time to create and maintain relationships is critical for success. As a result of using an agrarian-type cycle of decision-making and the requirement of needing consensus for decisions, means that the rhythm or pace of doing business is different in Japan and South Korea. Disregarding these requirements can cause offense which could easily result in you losing a business opportunity.
